New Space Marines Battleforce (2026): Indomitus Task Force revealed for Christmas

Indomitus Task Force Battleforce (Space Marines). Box announced for Christmas 2026

Today, October 19, 2026, Games Workshop revealed its Christmas Battleforce line-up for Warhammer 40,000, and the Space Marines lead the way with the Indomitus Task Force. It’s a 23-model box that mixes Terminators, a Redemptor Dreadnought, jump-pack assault troops and a full squad of Intercessors. If you’re starting a Space Marines army this winter, this is the box to look at. Pre-orders are coming “soon”, according to Warhammer Community.

What’s in the Indomitus Task Force box?

The Indomitus Task Force builds 23 Space Marines miniatures across six units. According to Warhammer Community, the box contains:

  • 1x Captain in Terminator Armour
  • 1x Chaplain
  • 1x Redemptor Dreadnought
  • 5x Terminators
  • 5x Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs
  • 10x Intercessors

GW pitches it as a versatile core for a Space Marines army, with a bit of everything: shooting, melee and durability. Transfer sheets and upgrade sprues haven’t been confirmed yet.

Units, options and playstyles

The box splits naturally into three blocks: an elite strike, a fast assault wing and a solid battleline.

Elite strike: Captain in Terminator Armour + Terminators. The Captain leads the five Terminators to make a tough, hard-hitting unit that can Deep Strike onto an objective or into the enemy’s backfield. Storm bolters and power fists handle most targets, with heavy-weapon options for extra punch.

Fast assault: Chaplain + Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs. The jump-pack squad is the box’s mobile threat, perfect for grabbing distant objectives or charging exposed units. The Chaplain adds melee support and morale, and pairs well with an aggressive assault unit.

Battleline: 10 Intercessors. Ten bolt-rifle Marines are your objective holders. They can split into two units of five to cover more of the table, or stay together as a durable home-objective anchor.

Heavy support: Redemptor Dreadnought. The Redemptor is the centrepiece. It brings heavy firepower from its main gun and the durability to walk up the middle while your infantry moves around it.

Which detachments fit this Battleforce?

The Indomitus Task Force splits into three TACTICUS units (Chaplain, Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs and Intercessors), two TERMINATOR units (Captain and Terminator Squad) and one Dreadnought. These four 1DP detachments get the most out of it. Gladius Task Force and Blade of Ultramar cost 3DP and aren’t legal below 2,000 points.

Tacticus Firestorm Force

The best fit for a shooting list. Its rule, Codex Fire-patterns, gives TACTICUS units’ [Rapid Fire] weapons their bonus at any range, so your 10 Intercessors fire at full power from across the table.

  • Cyber-familiar (15 pts): TACTICUS model only. After deployment, redeploy up to three Adeptus Astartes Infantry units, or put them into Strategic Reserves. Best on the Chaplain or a Lieutenant.
  • Tempered in Battle (10 pts, Aura): TACTICUS model only. Friendly Adeptus Astartes units within 6″ can re-roll Leadership tests. Best on a character near the Intercessors.

Tacticus Attack Force

The aggressive Tacticus option. Its rule, Wrath of the Chapter, lets TACTICUS units re-roll Advance rolls, and its Stratagems hand out Sustained or Lethal Hits and Fights First on objectives.

  • Martial Paragon (10 pts): TACTICUS model only. The unit can re-roll one hit roll and one wound roll. Great on the Chaplain leading the Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs.
  • Spearpoint War Leader (15 pts): TACTICUS model only. The unit gains Scouts 6″. Lets the Chaplain and the jump-pack squad reach the midfield on turn one.

Terminator Storm Force

Built for the First Company. Its rule, Death Blow, gives TERMINATOR units +1 to charge rolls, and the Tactical Dreadnought Fortitude Stratagem reduces incoming damage by 1.

  • Champion of the First Company (20 pts): TERMINATOR model only. The unit’s melee attacks gain [Lethal Hits]. Ideal on the Captain in Terminator Armour.
  • Corporeum Reliquary (25 pts): TERMINATOR model only. The unit can make an ingress move in your first Movement phase, so it hits the table on turn one. Also best on the Captain.

The box has only one TERMINATOR character, so you can use just one of these Enhancements unless you add another.

Tactical Brethren

The all-rounder. Its rule, Tactical Mastery, lets you select the tactical doctrine one more time per battle, and it works for every unit in the box regardless of armour type.

  • Tactical Insight (15 pts): CAPTAIN model only. The tactical doctrine is active for his unit on top of any other doctrine. Made for the Captain in Terminator Armour and his Terminators.
  • Laurels of Vigilance (10 pts): any Adeptus Astartes model. Once per battle round, Fire Overwatch or Heroic Intervention costs 1CP less when it targets a BATTLELINE unit within 12″. It turns your Intercessors into a cheap reactive screen.

Indomitus Task Force points value

The Indomitus Task Force is worth 775 points in Warhammer 40,000 matched play, based on current points values.

Unit Models Points
Captain in Terminator Armour 1 90
Chaplain 1 60
Redemptor Dreadnought 1 170
Terminator Squad 5 190
Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs 5 95
Intercessor Squad 10 170
Total 23 775

How to reach 1,000 points

You need 225 more points for a standard 1,000-point game. In 11th edition you can take up to two Enhancements, and each unit can carry only one. The four builds below add 155–195 points of units, one per detachment, leaving up to 70 points for Enhancements.

  • Tacticus Firestorm Force: Lieutenant (50) + Intercessor Squad (85) + Ancient (40) = 950 pts. A second battleline squad and two more TACTICUS characters to hold the centre. Add Cyber-familiar on the Lieutenant and Tempered in Battle on the Ancient for 975 pts.
  • Tacticus Attack Force: Captain with Jump Pack (90) + Assault Intercessor Squad (85) = 950 pts. The Captain joins the jump-pack squad and the Chaplain leads the Assault Intercessors on foot. Add Martial Paragon and Spearpoint War Leader for 975 pts.
  • Terminator Storm Force: Terminator Assault Squad (170) = 945 pts. A melee hammer that charges at +1 alongside the Terminator Squad. Give the Captain Corporeum Reliquary for 970 pts, with 30 points spare.
  • Tactical Brethren: Gladiator Lancer (160) = 935 pts. Long-range anti-tank to support a flexible, doctrine-heavy army. Add Tactical Insight on the Captain and Laurels of Vigilance on the Chaplain for 960 pts.

Indomitus Task Force price and estimated savings

We expect the Indomitus Task Force to have an official price of £155 / $250 / €212, the same as the current Battleforces on warhammer.com. Independent retailers usually sell for up to 15% less, so you should find it for around £132 / $213 / €180. GW hasn’t announced an official price yet.

Bought separately at official prices, the same kits would cost around £224 / $366 / €307. At the official price, that’s a saving of £69 / $116 / €95 (around 31%). Buy from a retailer with a 15% discount and the saving grows to £92 / $153 / €127.

Indomitus Task Force release date and pre-orders

We expect Indomitus Task Force pre-orders to open on a Saturday between November 14 and 28, 2026, with release about two weeks later (late November to mid-December). GW has only said pre-orders are coming soon.

Year Battleforce reveal Pre-orders Release
2026 October 19 Nov 14–28 (est.) Nov 28–Dec 12 (est.)
2025 Early October November 15 November 29

This year’s reveal came about two weeks later than in 2025, so pre-orders could slip toward the end of that window.

What does “Indomitus” mean?

Indomitus is Latin for “untamed” or “unconquerable”. In Warhammer 40,000 lore, it names the Indomitus Crusade: the vast campaign Roboute Guilliman launched after his resurrection to reclaim the Imperium after the Great Rift tore the galaxy apart. The Crusade introduced the Primaris Space Marines, which is why an Indomitus-themed box built around Intercessors and a Redemptor fits so well.

Long-time players will also remember Indomitus as the name of the 9th edition launch box in 2020.

Is the Indomitus Task Force worth it?

Yes, especially if you’re starting Space Marines. For an expected £155 / $250 / €212 (or around £132 / $213 / €180 at a discount retailer) you get 775 points, six units that cover every core battlefield role, and a saving of around 31% over separate kits.

The main catch is that every kit in the box already exists, so veteran Space Marines collectors may own most of it. If you already have a Redemptor and a squad of Intercessors, the value drops. For new players, gift buyers and anyone wanting a ready-made 1,000-point core with a couple of extra kits, it’s one of the easiest Christmas buys in the 2026 line-up.
